Homework:  Adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators worksheet.  This is 4th grade review so it should be easy.  And we spent the day reviewing this skill as well so refer to the completed examples in notebooks as needed.

Tonight is the last McDonalds Spirit Night for LCES.

Homework:  Finish the reducing fraction sheet #7-16 as needed.

Refer to your notebook for step by step ex’s for finding the GCF which you will need in order to write these fractions in simplest form.

Tomorrow is also LCES Spirit day and the BIG BETA Bake Sale in front of the forum from 8:15-9:00.

Homework:  Study for prime/composite quiz.  Practice using divisibiity rules to determine if a number is composite with more than 2 factors.  Remember there a few exceptions to the rules!

Homework:  Due to snow days and lost instructional time there is a review sheet coming home so the kids can practice for the Prime/Composite number Quiz next week.

Please encourage them to use the divisibilty rules AND

to think about the “exceptions” to the rules taught in class. 

>This is the easiest way to sort the #’s from 1-100 as prime or composite.

Updates:  Don’t forget!  The following should be will be collected upon return:

  1. Tuesday homework:   Prime and composite review sheet.
  2. Wednesday and Thursday math review for this week.  
  3. Last week’s math review quiz corrections(if you had any).                                    >>>Math Review Quiz will still be tomorrow after we review Wed/Thurs. questions and last week’s quiz.

Don’t just guess!  Always refer to your notebooks for help as needed.

Due to snow days there will be homework this weekend to make-up for lost time in class, and to prepare for a prime/composite quiz next week.  

Next week we will quickly move into recognizing fractions in their equivalent decimal form and comparing/ordering sets of fractions/decimals.

Homework:  In anticipation of weather related delays/cancellations this week, I have assigned homework for tonight and additional work to be completed tomorrow if we are delayed/cancelled.  This extra work would have been completed in class or as homework tomorrow.    

Tonight(1/16):  Even/Odd/Prime/Composite worksheet. Remember the mistakes that were corrected in class today and remember to go through the divisibility rules and exceptions before selecting answer(s).

Tomorrow(1/17)If school is delayed or cancelled due to weather, complete Wednesday and Thursday Math Review.

BETA MEMBER URGENT REMINDER

            We have unfortunately come down to the wire with convention registration.  Multiple reminders have gone out, including a robo call to all LCES BETA members today, but we are concerned that many people have not received the information.  If your child is planning to go to the State Beta Convention in February, you MUST let Mrs. Feggans at BGE know by tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10th.

So you can make an informed decision, consider the details of this trip:

Who – All Caroline Junior Betas in good standing are eligible to attend

What – Virginia Junior Beta Convention

When – February 13-14

Where – Hampton, VA at the Hampton Roads Convention Center

Participants will be staying at the Embassy Suites by the convention center.

How much – Costs will be $130 per participant (this fee applies to the Beta as well as any chaperones).  You do not have to chaperone for your child to attend.  The costs will cover the convention registration, hotel, transportation, lunch, dinner, breakfast, and a t-shirt.  Participants will need spending money and lunch money for on the way home.

The first payment of $30 is due on January 16th.  Mrs. Feggans will also have a meeting that evening. 

The second payment of $50 is due on January 30th.

Final payment of $50 due on February 6th.

You MUST provide the following information to Mrs. Feggans immediately if your child will be attending the convention this year:
